Name: Brandon Riley
High School: Walter M. Williams
College Commitment: Uncommitted
What are your expectations of the 2013 Burlington Williams baseball team?
I expect our team to finish as one of the top teams in the conference and go pretty deep in the playoffs.
Who's Williams biggest rivalry in baseball?
Western Alamance High School
What are your personal goals for this spring and summer?
My goals for this spring are to make the All-Conference Team and to be the Conference Player of the Year. My summer goals are to improve for next spring and to bring home a Dirtbags championship from the Perfect Game World Series in East Cobb.
Starting on the varsity team as a freshman last year and playing alot of baseball during the summer/fall, how do you think your game has developed in preparation for your sophomore campaign?
Playing as much as I did last year, I have developed more knowledge about the game and now have more experience playing on bigger stages which could help me in the future.
What are your strengths as a baseball player?
I consider my ability to hit the baseball backside and my aggressiveness on the base paths to be my strengths.
What has been your main focus this off-season?
My main focus this off-season was to continue to get bigger/faster and stronger. Also, I worked off the tee to maintain my swing to work out any flaws.
What's the most memorable game you have been a part of in your young career?
My most memorable game was a non-conference game against Barlett-Yancey last season in high school ball. We were down by six runs in the bottom of the seventh, and rallied to pull out the win.
What are your plans for this upcoming summer?
My plans for this summer are to continue playing with the Dirtbags and attend college baseball camps.
Below, I am going to name some names. Tell me what comes to mind when you hear them?
Bradley Keller: A great 3rd baseman.
Utah Jones: One of the funniest players I have ever played with.
Ryder Jones: One of the best hitters I have ever had the chance to watch in person.
Conner Leonard: A power hitter and fun teammate.
Chandler Seagle: A catcher with cannon for an arm.
Adam Pate: A great leader and center fielder.
What are your hobbies outside of baseball?
I enjoy hanging out with friends, going to the beach and watching college baseball.
What's your favorite movie?
Who's your favorite MLB player?
Who's your favorite college basketball team?
North Carolina Tarheels
If you had a chance to hit off anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
I would like to hit off of C. C. Sabathia because he is one of my favorite pitchers to watch. I feel like it would be a fun experience.
If you had to guess, how much time have you spent in the weight room on a weekly basis:
I spend anywhere from five to eight hours a week in the weight room.
What's one thing most people don't know about Brandon Riley:
I am quiet when I first meet someone or in a group of people.
So, I got to ask. You and your father (Jay) get after it pretty good in the weight room since he is a strength and condition guy, who would win in a wrestling match?
Impact Baseball would like to thank Brandon Riley for his "Under The Gun" interview. We would like to wish him and Burlington Williams the best of luck this season..
Check back next week for more exciting interviews and news here from Impact Baseball.. Have a great weekend!!
